Furthermore, this tribal region was isolated due to the mountains so trade and communication was difficult. This is significant as it shows how the America was prior to European, Asian, and African contact. -

The encomienda was created by the Spanish to control and regulate American Indian labor and behavior during the colonization of the Americas. This was significant as under this the Spanish tried to get rid of TrIbal practices. -

The British colonies had a hierachy in which the British crown was at the highest. Then the second highest was the Royal Governor. Below them was the council and the colonial assembly. The New England Colonies was a set of British American colonies which included Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire. These colonies were significant as they showed how purtanical society was and how no one was really accepting of anything else except what they practiced. -

The Enlightenment was a revolution in human thought. This new way of thinking was rational thoughts which began with a clearly stated principle and used correct logic to arrive at a conclusion. This movement was significant as it provided American society with the ideologies they need to eventually revolt against their imperializers. -

Confederate States of America
The Confederate States of America, commonly referred to as the Confederacy, was a confederation of secessionist American states existing from 1861 to 1865. This was significant as one could see the weak societal infrastruacture of America due to slavery. -

The Black Codes
These were laws passed by Southern states in 1865 and 1866, after the Civil War. These laws had the intent and the effect of restricting African Americans' freedom, and of compelling them to work in a labor economy based on low wages or debt. This was significant as it showed that in American society, they were still reluctant to provided equal rights and that little was really reformed after the civil war though it was claimed to be a war to reform American society by getting rid of slavery. -

The theory that individuals, groups, and peoples are subject to the same Darwinian laws of natural selection as plants and animals. This is significant as it justified the prevalence of capitslism in Amercian society and made people more receptive to it as well -

This a landmark United States Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of state laws requiring racial segregation in public facilities under the doctrine of "separate but equal". This was significant as it marked the beginning of segragated American society. -

A subculture involving the rejection of conventional values and the taking of hallucinogenic drugs. This was significant as it showed that American society was beginning to become less conformist and more liberal. -

This was a terroist attack on American soil on America's trade centers. This event is significant as it shows how Middle Eastern tension with America was increasing. -
Patriots Act
This act was signed by George H W Bush which legalized the government to put surveillance everywhere as to protect Americans from another terroist attack. This was significant as it restricted some of the rights of Americans in order to provide better protection for Americans which shows how fearful American society was of another terroist attack that they were willing to give up some of their rights.
