    Salishan (Northwest Native Americans)
    classified by totepoles (which symbolized unity and the nature of the tribe/clan) and matriarchy this tribal region had an abundance of natural resources in order to build homes and boats. Furthermore, this tribal region was isolated due to the mountains so trade and communication was difficult. This is significant as it shows how the America was prior to European, Asian, and African contact.

    Blackfoots (Great Plains)
    Buffalos was the main source of food for this region's tribe. they used teepees since they were nomadic. They were nomadic since there was a lack of resources in the region. The significance of this tribe is to show how American life was prior to European, Asian, and African contact.

    The Confederate States of America, commonly referred to as the Confederacy, was a confederation of secessionist American states existing from 1861 to 1865. This was significant as one could see the weak societal infrastruacture of America due to slavery.

    These were laws passed by Southern states in 1865 and 1866, after the Civil War. These laws had the intent and the effect of restricting African Americans' freedom, and of compelling them to work in a labor economy based on low wages or debt. This was significant as it showed that in American society, they were still reluctant to provided equal rights and that little was really reformed after the civil war though it was claimed to be a war to reform American society by getting rid of slavery.
