A miner brought smallpox from San Fran to Victoria, the disease spread very quickly and killed well over 10'000 Indians. They were quarantined because the government didn't care about them as the colonists were vaccinated. -

The road made it easier for people to get to the goldfields as well as created more jobs for people. -

Gassy Jack
Gassy Jack Deighton appeared in Burrard inlet with family and a whisky barrel. He had the first saloon and it became a very popular meeting place. Now a days the area of the saloon has been named after Jack and today is called Gastown. -

CPR Is Completed
The eastern and Western parts of the CPR finally meet at Craigellachie where Mr. Donald Smith drove in the last spike. It was very important because it connected BC to the rest of Canada and brought in many people to BC and also allowed easier trade throughout Canada. -
