17,000 BCE
Caves of Lascaux
Located near a small village of Mantignac. It has over 600 paintings telling us about life long ago. These paintings were painted over many years from 17,000 BCE to 15,000 BCE. Most of the paintings show us animals like horses and bison and people with spears. We can infer that they hunted and these animals were found normally around the area. -
800 BCE
Ancient Greece
This empire ruled for quite awhile, had new ways of thinking, and created the first democracy, even though it wasn't a "true" democrocy. Women and slaves could not vote, only males who normally had money and power. We give Athens the recognition for the "first democracy". They were ahead of their time and had new ways of thinking through things. Many of the math equations we do today are from them. Most of the time we give Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates the credit as they were the most famous. -
27 BCE
Roman Empire
This was a big time for ruling. The Roman Empire took over many places including Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and places of Africa. They switched from being a republic to becoming a monarchy. They created the 12 tables of law which states that all free citizens are treated equally. As they went into the mediterranean, these guys wanted to defeat Rome yet Rome still considered them citizens. Rome built massive structures like the Greeks and liked to show their wealth with diamonds and emeralds -
500
Middle Ages
Also called the "Dark Ages" because of feudalism. There was no advancement or big ideas here. Most of the government was messed up. The kings had all the power, then nobles. These people got land but they had to be in the military. Next was peasants, who were kinda like slaves. They had no land but had to work on the nobles land and hardly ever got paid. This time era is also known for the Black Death, an awful, easily spreaded, disease. The Middle Ages started in 500 CE until 1500 CE -
1095
Crusades
Starting in 1095 over the holy land. Muslims lived where Christian's believe the holy land is, but muslims have the same idea. The muslims had control over it, creating war. Unfortunately the Christian's weren't too successful over getting it. But it ended up hellping Europes economy as the muslims wanted to trade with them. This all eventually ended in 1291. -
1300
Renaissance
Very popular in Italy at first, then spreading to other European countries. It ended around 1700 CE but created new actives/hobbies/jobs. Many artists, sculptures, and scholars became famous from this time period. More people became interested in learning about progressing and making new things. Religion even became more popular and bigger. -
1517
Reformation
In 1517 Martin Luther had a new idea about religion, as I mentioned before it was getting more popular. The powerful leaders of church's disagreed with him while people of the church agreed with him. He started his own religion called Protestant. The argument ended in 1648. This is still celebrated today. -
Industrial Revolution
This time era started around 1760, sooner and later for some places. Many jobs were created, new inventions, and soon places had too many people. Many of the inventions were to be more efficient and less expensive. It ended around 1840-1860 with industrial jobs becoming less needed and wanted.
