    Hernan cortez was misaken for a god by an ancient civilization called he Aztec. With this advantage Cortez waited until small pox killed a major part of he population and then with the help of enemy clan he took down the Aztec city and conquered that civilization.

They then est up a huge colony with over 8,000 men and women.They bought huge ares of land for low prices from the natives and they had a great relationship with the Iroquois natives. With their help they competed against their furs trade rivals, the french. The Iroquois also got gains because they got weapons to fight their arch enemies then Huron.

    Peter Stuyvesant is hired as the new goevernor of New Amsterdam. He governed for 17 years and during this time they invited colonists to come stay with them. By the end New amsterdam had a population of 8,000.

They toook canons and arms and during the night aimed all the artillery at boston. The british then surrendered boston and 9,000 troops left to canada.

    This was a bloody battle for New York. Untrained colonists encourgaed by the new declaration of independence fought the highly trained british and suffred huge cassualties. The British lost only 377 men, while the Americans lost 1,407. The americans then had to retreat since they were losing badly.

    Colonist were pumped from Thomas Paine's Phamlet. At Trenton the colonists crossed the frozen delaware river during chirtmas. The british were unsuspectidly eating their christmas fod when the colonists surprised them. No one was killed and 868 british soldiers were captured.

    Huge british troops were moving through 20 miles of forest with a huge load of wagons. During this time colonists did small attacks where they attacked and ran. BY the time the british troops reached saratoga tons of colonist troops assembled there. Even though they outnumbered the british the birtish attacked. The colonists beat them and made them surrender.

    All 13 staets had agreed to the articles of confederation, and after MAryland signed it it was put into action. The articles of confederation connected the states together but had many flaws and weaknesses so it was later destroyed.

    The capturing of 8,000 british troops was a huge victory for the colonists. Colonists made the british chase them aroudn the country, after a while the british got tired and took a rest at yorltown. During this rest colonists surrounded york town and took 8,000 soldiers as prisoners.

    This was a huge purchase for america. They bought the land after they sent an offer to buy New Orleans, the french were weak from war and slave revolts so they offered to sell all of Louisiana. THe americans baought the land with 2-3 cents per acre and doubled the size of their original size.

    Florida was originally spanish land. They ceaded the land to the US since they were being attacked by runaway slaves. The spanish got Texas and 5 million dollars in exchange.
  • Indian Removal Act

    This act was initiated by president Andrew Jackson. He decided to take all the Indian and put the into 1 small territory known as the Indian Territory. Ass tribes were cramped together and they were forced to go. The new territory was super small, especially since great tribes had to share it.
  • Trail of Tear

    Cherokee Indians were fored to walk thousands of kilometers. They were taken out of their homes and forced to go to the Indian Territory. More then 17,00 Indians had to make the journey and thousands died in the processes. The trail they took was known as the "Trail of Tears"

    Texas was originally Spanish land. Americans decided to annex it after rebbelion with Spain. Texas was left independent and the US annexed it.

    Many pionners were moving into Oregon since its land was fertile and good for farming. The president wanted to annex all of Oregon but decided not to since part of Oregon was owned by the British. Because there was a risk of another war the president made a treaty with the British to devide oregon in 2. Oregon was split by a line known as the 49th parallel.

    This was and Issue that upset SOutherners since a very big new land would be slave free. Southerners wanted to keep Slavery alive and if such a big piece of land was slave free, it might help destroy slavery completely.

    The Fugitive Slave Law was passed across the USA stating that runaway slaves could be brought back to their masters if the run away. After this law was passed many african americas were taken back to their masters even after successfully escaping them. Also African Americans that weren't slave were accused of running away and were taken to work for masters.

    John Brown was a "terrorist" to the Southerners. He destroyed towns all across the South trying to abolish slavery. He spread terror across the slave states, untill him and his 5 sons were captured and killed during a raid in hopes to get an armory.

    The American war started on April 12, 1861. It was started because of disputes over slavery and if a stae should be a slave state or a free state. The war started after the SOuth attacked a Northern fort known as Fort Sumter. From there States split up into two groups, The Union and The Confederacy. It was america's bloodiest war with hundred's of thousands of casualties. The war ended April 9th, 1865
