    French and Indian war

    Happend Through 1754-1763 what happend was The French and the British were arguing over territory ,because the French wanted to preserve the forests for fur trade and the British wanted to cut down the forests. Then they ultimently went to war. The native americans got roped into this war and chose sides. In the end the British and Iroquois won the war, but this put Britian into great debt.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The proclamation of 1763 made it so that no colonists citizen could cross the land of the Appalachien mountains.
  • Treaty of Paris

    This treaty signed by Britan and France marked the end of the French and Inidan war.
  • Sugar act

    The sugar act was passed by parliment in 1764 to tax sugar (candies, sugar cubes for tea, ect). They did this because they were in debt from the French and Indian war.
  • Stamp act

    To help pay off their great dept Britan put a tax on everything made of paper (paper,playing cards, ect)
  • Townshed acts

    The Townshed acts were passed by parliment that taxed good that were important to the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    On March 5th ,while the colonists were lined up to pay their taxes, British troops marched into town. This angered the colonists because they would have to provide for the soilders and give them shelter. So the colonists started insaulting them and throwing ice and snowballs. The British soilders fired into the unarmed crowd killing 5 people and making the colonists even more enraged and so they gave it the name the Boston Masscre.
  • Boston Tea party

    The sons of liberty and other colonists boarded 3 large British ships that contained tea. They cut open all the Crates of tea and dumped them into the Boston harbor. They did this to resent the tax on tea.
  • Tea act

    Parliment issued the tea act as another way to tax people. They used the tax money to cover their dept. This later triggerd the Boston tea party.
  • The first continental congress

    The First Continetal congress met to decide on how it should react to Britans taxing.
  • Paul Reveres Ride and battles of lexington and concord.

    Paul Revere and Samuel Prescott Rode off into the night to warn the people of the coming British troops. In doing so lexington moved their supplies. So when the british came and took Lexington they found few supplies. Moving on to Concord they wanted to take the arms they thought too be stored there. The British fired at the colonists but quickly retreated when the colonists started to put up a fight.
  • The second Continental Congress

    The second Continental Congress was meet after the start of the Revalutinary war to decide how to react. They decided to gather militas and tried one last time to make peace with Great Britian.
  • Battle of Bunker hill

    The battle of bunker hill was fought on a hill (bot bunker hill as the colonists origannly planned) They set up there to fire cannons into boston. The British troops tried to overtake them on the hill but failed 2 times. On the 3 try they got the colonists to retreat because the colonists were low on ammunition. The victory came at a cost though over 2,500 British soilders were either injured or killed.
  • Declaration of independance.

    The declaration of independance was created to declare freedom from Great Britan.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The battle of Saratoga was a great victory over the British helping the French to recognize the colonie's indepandence and so they sent French forces to help.
  • Winter at vally forge

    In 1777 after suffering multiple defeats after their victory the Continentsl army went to set camp at vally forge. When winter hit vally forge it was disaterous. They had to eat what was called fire cakes which was a paste of flour and water boiled over a fire. Most soilder gave up and went home. 2,500 died of disease like smallpox and typhoid. The surviving soilder were faced with frostbite and starvation. Washington held his army together and managed to train them. So they marched out alive.
  • Battle of yorktown

    This battle happend in Yorktown when the British forces ran out of supplies and retreated to Yorktown to wait for supplies. The continental army took this as an advatage and used French ships to blockade the harbor, preventing any supplies getting to the British. After 3 weeks of conflict in Yorktown the Genral Cornwallis of the British army surrenderd
  • Peace of Paris

    The treaty of Paris enstated peace between the colonies and Britian. This treaty also deaclared the United states independant.
