  • Jamestown

    Jamestown
    Jamestown was the first settlement in the US by England. The settlers settled in Virginia with hopes to find gold and to stay alive, they accomplished part of their secong goal.
  • The Mayflower Compact

    The Mayflower Compact
    The Mayflower was a ship sent from England full of people that wanted religious freedom. On the way to their soon to be settlement, they wrote the Mayflower Compact, which was the first draft of self government in the New World. The people were called Pilgrims and established the settlement in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
  • The 13 Colonies Are Established

    The 13 Colonies Are Established
    The 13 Colonies were made up of three regions, the New England, Middle, and Southern Regions. The New England colonies included Massachusettes, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The Middle colonies included New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The Southern colonies included Maryland, Virginia, Goergia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The Colonies started forming in 1607 and ended in 1732.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 stopped the colonist from expanding west past the Appalachian. England had aquired land, but King George lll issued the act to avoid conflict between the Colonist and the Indians. The Colonist were not happy.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was a tax on any papered goods, issued by England to the Colonies tohelp pay for the aftermath of the French Indian War. The colonist were very upset, not completely with the tax itself, but for the fact that they had no say in the making and enforcing of the this act. This started the saying ¨No Taxation Without Repersentation.¨

    This act forced colonist to house and feed their soldiers. The colonist did not like this because it was a vialation of of their privacy and cost alot of money.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    On this day British soldiers killed 5 colonist for insukting them, the first casualty was a slave named Crispus Attucks. John Adams defended them in trial to show how important it was to have a fair trial.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    This was a response to the tax on tea. The Sons of Liberty snuck out, dressed as Indians, and in display of peaceful protest, dumped out 342 cases of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    These were a series of events in response to the Boston Tea Party that ensured that the colonist would be almost completelycontrolled by Great Britain. These laws banned Colonial Assemblies, added more taxes, and closed the Boston Harbor. These laws were the final straw for the colonist, a war was brewing.

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    These two battles were the first unofficial battles of the American Revolution. These took place during the First Constitutional Convention and where led by George Washington.

  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This was the turning point of the war, the Colonial Army won and because of that the French became our allies and helped us win the war.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    Winter at Valley Forge
    After a few victories for the Continental Army spent the winter, along with the French army, at the Gross Plantation training to become a better army, this increased the professionalism and helped the soldiers win the war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This was the final major battle of the Revolutionary War, George Washington led the Continental Army to victory and the British official surrendered.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    This treaty official ended the Revolutionary War. The British surrendered and the United States of America officially became its own country, they also got the Ohio River Valley.
