Spaniards Come Into Texas and build Presidios
In 1718 Spaniards came into Texas and the first presidio was built in Texas. It was the presidio San Antonio De Béxar. Texas Revolution
October 2, 1835 - April 21, 1836 was the Texas Revolution. The Texas was revolution was Texas fighting against Mexico. Texas had been pushed and bullied by Mexico but, this time Mexico pushed them over the line. Texas revolted and fought for their freedom. It was a rocky start at first losing many battles. However at the Battle of the Alamo Texas suffered a huge defeat. This sparked a fire in their souls to fight harder. Finally 6 months after the war Texas conquered Mexico in San Jacinto. -

Civil War
A huge event in Texas history is the Civil War. Texas had many slaves because the cotton industry was booming. However, the North said no more slaves and Texas did not like this. So, Texas joined the Confederacy. Texans and other Confederates took a huge hit though. It was hard to gain guns and weapons. However Texas did have the upper hand in clothing. The bales and bales of cotton helped make clothes and bandages. -

Even though the Confederates lost the Civil War and could no longer have slaves, the war shaped Texas forever. From the historic markers where battles where fought to burned barns. Texas has battle scars just like the rest of us.
