    Spindletop is an oil field in Beaumount, TX. On January 10th a well in Spindletop struck oil and a gusher blew for nine days at an estimated rate of 100,000 barrels per day. Upon this discovery the United States was lead into the "Oil Age." This frenzy became known as "The Texas Oil Boom."

  • The Holocaust

    The Holocaust
    The Holocaust was a major world event that occurred between 1941 and 1945. Nazi Germany and its allies murder approximately 6 million Jews across Europe. The leader in this genocide was Adolf Hitler. Hitlers belief was that the Jews were an inferior race and the Nazi party wished to eradicate in favor of their so called Aryan bloodline.

    Japanese surprise attack against the U.S. pacific fleet. The U.S. was neutral at the time and the attack caused the Unites States to go into WWII against Japan. This also caused a ripple effect for the U.S. to go into war with Germany.

    This war occurred from November 1955 - April 1975. It was fought between North and South Vietnam. North Vietnam was a communist government and the South was not. The United States got involved about 1964 due to them trying to prevent the spread of communism.

    Emmett Till was a 14 year old boy who traveled to visit family in Mississippi. While in town Emmett was accused of offending a white woman by "cat calling." This led to him being kidnapped and murdered. As a result of his open casket funeral depicting the brutality of his murder, Emmett became an icon of the Civil Rights Movement.

    The Soviet Union began to assemble nuclear missiles in Cuba which posed a direct nuclear threat to the U.S. Which caused the U.S to be on the brink of nuclear war.

    The U.S. President was (allegedly) assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. The alleged reason for this being because of the failed invasion of Cuba (Bay of Pigs).

    This event marks the mans first landing on the moon. At the time the United States was in competition with Russia to be the first country to have man land on/explore the moon.
  • The Gulf War

    This war started in 1990 and ended in 1991. Iraq invaded Kuwait because they wanted oil. The reason for the invasion was because they were indebted to Kuwait and they wanted to posses their oil reserves. In February of 1991 the U.S. launched a ground assault into Kuwait to liberate the Country.
