Industrial growth in Europe
Industrial development led to massive growth. Economic rivalries (mentioned in other dates on this timeline), imperial competition, rising nationalism (pride and love for one's own country), and militarism (the glorification and growth of the military) were spreading fast. Europe expanded their armies and navies, which led to an arms race. Demonstrations such as these led to mistrust within nations. This eventually led to the signing of treaties pledging to defend one another if ever attacked. -
