Ryze is a business networking site that it very similar to linkedin. On this site you were able to send messages, add friends, and create a profile. -
Friendster
Friendster was at the time of its arrival a brand new type of social media. While it had profiles, messaging, and ways to keep up with old friends it also made it easy to find new friends, go on date, and also find new events in your area. They have since changed the site into a social entertainment site after users went to myspace. -

Much like the social media website ryze, linkedin is a popular website where people can make business connections. -
Myspace
Myspace was different because of how personalized your profile got to be. Myspace was the number one website in 2006, and was worth 12 billion dollars in 2007. But by 2008, myspace had been beaten out and facebook was now the number one website. -
Facebook
When facebook first came out in 2004, Mark Zuckerberg, the creator was accused of stealing the idea, and had a law suit filed against for this. At first the website was for Harvard students only, and eventually became open to the public in 2006, and became the number one social networking site in 2008 and is still very popular today. -
Twitter
twitter started as a social media site where users made "tweets" in 140 characters or less. Today twitter is not just a way to know what your friends are up to, but is a major way of conveying breaking news stories.
In 2016 twitter had more than 319 million monthly active users. -
Instagram
Instagram is a social media site where you can share pictures and or videos publically or privately. It was originally just for iPhone users but became available for android users in 2012.
Instagram rapidly gained popularity, with one million registered users in two months, 10 million in a year, and ultimately 700 million as of April 2017 -
Snapchat
Snapchat is a social media site used for picture messaging. originally Snapchat Inc. One of the principal concepts of Snapchat is that pictures and messages are only available for a short time before they become unavailable. Originally, Snapchat was centered on private, person-to-person photo sharing, now they have stories to show all your friends one photo at once, video chat, and a news section called snapchat discover.
