  • Brown vs Board of Education

    The decision in Brown v. Board of Education by the United States Supreme Court backed the claim that separate schools based on race were unequal. So, although Plessy v. Ferguson established "separate but equal," Brown v. Board of Education established "separate is not equal." The Supreme Court judgment fell short of establishing a deadline for public school integration, instead advising that school systems integrate in a "reasonable" amount of time.
