    Prohibition

Prohibition in Canada was a ban on alcoholic beverages that arose in various stages, from local municipal bans in the late 19th century, to provincial bans in the early 20th century, and national prohibition (a temporary wartime measure) from 1918 to 1920.

    Voting rights for women

1918, c. 20, women in Canada were granted the federal franchise. Radio programs
Radio was introduced in Canada in the late 1890s, although initially transmissions were limited to the dot-and-dashes of Morse code, and primarily used for point-to-point services, especially for maritime communication. The history of broadcasting in Canada dates to the early 1920s, as part of the worldwide development of radio stations sending information and entertainment programming to the general public. Television was introduced in the 1950s and soon became the primary broadcasting service.

Most dresses had a drop waist, with a belt or sash around the hip and a skirt that hung down anywhere from the ankle on up to (but never above) the knee.

The stock market crash of 1929
In late October of 1929, terror seized the stock exchanges of North America. The wheat glut of 1928 threw the Winnipeg Grain Exchange into a spiral, triggering depression in Canada's economy. It began to take shape on 24 October 1929, Black Thursday. Canadians were not happy with what was going on and it caused substantial street riots and what we would know as the great depression.
