Slender man inspired creature is added into Minecraft
When slenderman was starting to become mainstream when it comes to popularity, the biggest video game in the world, Minecraft, released an update featuring a monster called the "Enderman" which has heavy inspiration from slenderman. With slenderman being introduced into a whole new medium (video games), it further increased in popularity. -
The first slender-man video game
Trying to capitalize around the popularity of slender man, game developers Parsec Productions decided to introduce the scary figure to a new genre by making a slender man video game. This was a time when horror games were a very popular thing for people to watch on various video watching websites like Youtube. -
The second slender-man game
Another slender man video game was released, but this time the creator, Eric Knudson, contributed to the production of the game. The myth of slender-man continued to grow as more online personalities recorded themselves being scared while playing the game. -
The slender-man stabbing
On May 31st, 2014, two twelve-year-old girls lured one of their friends into a forest and stabbed her to death. Their defense to such an evil act is that they claimed that slender-man told them to do so. -
Documentary "Beware the Slenderman"
More slenderman-related incidents were occurring around the nation after the slender-man stabbing. There was a suicide epidemic happening at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, with around 100 people attempting to take their life. Another incident was a 14 year old girl burnt her house down with her mother and brother were inside and it was later connected to slenderman. This documentary came out to highlight these incidents and to warn that the internet myths have consequences. -
