The slave code in Virginia
The slave code in Virginia declared that if a slave died while resisting his master, the master could not be charged with a felony. This was important because it showed that a master would not deliberately kill his own slave and the death most have been a consequence. -
Code in Virginia
This slave codeof Virginia inflicted twenty lashes on any Negro or other slave who choose to carry a weapon or to depart from his master's ground without a certificate from their master. This was important because it made slaves subject to their labor. -

The slave code fo Soth Carolina stipulated that negroes, mulattos, Indians and mestizos were to be assumed to be slaves, unless having contrary proof; slaves could only travel with their master's permission;salves could suffer death for small crimes, not treated with complete justice. This was important because it prevented any uprising rebellion of the slaves, like the Stone Rebrllion. -

The Fugative Slave Act was a federal law that allowed slaveowners, their agents or attorneys to seize fugative slaves in free states and territories. This law makes it illegal for anyone to help a slave escape to freedom or give runaway slave refuge. This law was important because it created a compromise in order to keep the northern and souhtern states satisfied. -

This law gave a provision prohibiting the holding and ownership of slaves in the territory north of the line of the United States. This was important because it allowed the Southerners to not loose their slaves. -
The Mississipi Act
The Mississipi Act was the law in which they prohibited teaching of reading and writing to blacks. This was important because it allowed slaves to lack knowledge and prevent possibilities of conflicts and rebellion. -
The Gag Act
Congress enacts the gag law to suppress debate on the slavery issue.This was important because it prohibited debate or discussion of a particular issue and allowed Congress and states to be more united.
