First slaves
The very first slaves were brough over at this time and were brought over by ships. people started to treat them worng from the get go and it wasnt right!
If they wouldnt of brought slaves over from africa this world would of been totally different i dont know what we would of done without slavery in or past. we wouldnt be having this class right now. -
Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise made it strictly just slave states in the south. this made it where Missouri was no longer a slave state and could be free to do what ever it chose to do. Before this act they couldnt decide if Missouri was a slave state or a free state but with this act it made it a free state
It was important becasue it made all of the people that were slaves in Missouri free. This might not change the south but it did change the north becasue it had aot more poeple spending money -
Harriet tubman
She excapes from slavery and brings hundreds of slaves on the underground railroad where they will be freed. she was a women of courage becasue she had to travel at night and didnt know if she was going to be caught or not
It is really remarkable to me that someone would even do that at this time. i wouldnt want to risk being beaten or even worse killed by worring about someone else life. -
John Brown
John Brown failed to attack harpers fairy where are the arsenal is at. he was planning on collecting all of the weapons and hoping at the same time that the slaves would hear about it and go against there owners so that they could have there own slave revolt. it didnt work out how he planned and he was caught and hung.
this was a huge thing becasue people like him didnt just attact places that they think souldnt be attacked. he stood for what he believed in and went for it. -
Run away or captured slaves
Congress passs a law that the slaves who are are being used for military purposes and are caught trying to escape do not have to be returned to there slave owners.
This was good becasue slaves didnt have to die becasue of where they were at in the states. this made it so that the owners didnt want to use them for military purposes becasue if they did the slaves could escape and not have to come back to where they belong. -
Lincoln issues Emancipation Proclimation
Lincoln issued the emancipation proclimation. this made that the other ten states that were still slave states not able to hold slaves anymore. this made the slaves free and able to go where ever they wanted. some people still had slaves but it was illegal. -
14th Amendment
The 14th amendemtn says that anyone that is born in the united states is to have the right to us citizenship. the amendment also denies the states to take and privilage away from any citizen. they all have to be equal.
The is a good thing so that everone can be equal its not right if everyone in this world cant have the chance to become successful and this amendment is doing just that. if you work hard you are going to get rewarded and thats just a simple fact. -
President clinton
president clinton felt bad for what happened in the passed and payed ten million dollars to the black survivors and family members that were victimized by the syphilis experiment conducted in the 1930,s by the U.S Public Health Service.
This shows what kind of a man clinton was and that he didnt agree with anyhting that we were doing to the slaves. he knew it was wrong and was trying to give back to the poeple that had to deal with the wrongs that we had in the past. -
