The slave trade was when the south were tradeing with other states and makeing money. So the north ban tradeing with slaves. -
3/5 compromise
the south wanted the slaves to count as population. but the black didnt count as population but the slave owenrs had to pay 3/5 taxes on each slave they had. and it was the first time the goverment to fight over slavey in the new consituion. -
whitney & the cotton
He was the inveted of the cotton gin which increased the mass production of cotton. and it could make 50 pounds of clean cotton a day. which made the slave owners that were picking cotton alot of money. -
Compromise tariff
Was when henry clay proposed a tariff to fix the nullification crisis so the tariff reduced all the tariffs rates over 20% would be reduced . so after awhile the import tariffs would drop and the southern states would like this because it would cost less for them to import stuff. -
guadalupe hidalgo Treaty
It was the peace treaty between the united states and mexico. That ended the mexican war. which gave the united states california,ariziona,navada. -
compromise of 1850
It was a bill that was passed that seperated the slave states in the south, and the free states in the north with the tarritories that were won in the mexican war. -
fugitive Act
it was when the slaves would exscap and go to the north and be free the slave owners would write a discription of the slave and it would sound like alot of the free slaves. so when the slave owners went looking for them they took alot of the free slaves that were not even the right slaves because they looked liked the discription they were reading so they took them back to the south. And the north didnt like that.
