Since the 1970s, skateparks have been constructed specifically for use by skateboarders, Freestyle BMXers, aggressive skaters, and very recently, scooters. -
Clothing styles, music and culture.
During the 80's, skateboarding began to influence clothing styles, music and culture. -

The first public skate park in NYC opened in the mid 90’s. Diamondz! -
The mainstream
Since 2000 skateboarding has become more mainstream. More money has been put into skateboarding, there are more skate parks, better skateboards, and more skateboarding companies support the skaters. -
The number of skateboarders.
In 2005 there was about 20 millions of skaters and 74 percent of them were males. -
