    Westward Expansion

    The U.S. felt it had a manifest destiny to stretch all the way across the continent and was slowly closing the open range to achieve that goal

    The Guilded Age

    This time period was called the guilded age by some, such as the famous author of this era Mark Twain because everything appeared very sparkly and glamorous on the outside but very inwardly corrupt especially in politics.

    U.S. Imperialism

    Mostly under the presidency of us Teddy Roosevelt America started gaining more land overseas mostly to expand our navy. We also, in 1898 started the spanish american war because of our ships own technical difficulties. The state of hawaii was annexed by the us as a naval docking bay for the pacific.

    Progressive Era

    In this time period many things changed, After many people fought long and hard women were finally given the right to vote. Regulation of buisness practice led to less unfair working situations and more protection with food and other consumer products.

    World War I

    The US President at the time was Woodrow Wilson and he agreed to help Europe. Trench warfare was the method during the war but was soon rendered obsolete by the invent of tanks. After the war the leauge of nations was formed to prevent another war and they did such a good job

    The Roaring Twenties

    In this time in american history we went into prohibition that took many Americans by storm and benefited the black market and hurt the american people more than it helped anything. Another KKK was begun after the age of the last one.

    The Great Depression

    This event was not only bad for america, but spread to other parts of the world as well. The great depression in Germany was the main reason Hitler's support grew. This time was a period when people had too little money and the unemployment was so high that death by starvation became more promenant than it had been in maybe 200 years before.

    At the beginning of the war this was a conflict between other countries only and was going to stay that way. That was until the US was prompted to join the war because of pearl harbor.

    The Cold War

    The U.S. and the soviet union were at arms and were having an arms race to see who could be superior. The race to space was begun and the threat of Nuclear ar was imanite.

    The Civil Rights Movement

    Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Made history with his address to civil rights and with his assassination his message was made more powerful. More came after him making civil rights more civil and equal for all.

    The War in Vietnam

    The U.S. favored south Vietnam to communist North Vietnam. This war lasted almost twenty years.

    The Late Twentieth Century

    This was the start of the technological revolution and when we finally realized our oil mistake that we had been poisoning the earth for the last 175 years. As well as the end of the cold war.

    U.S. in the 21st Century

    The war on terror was started which did a good job of plunging the world into terror, the us is good at that. Inflation was gaining and in 2008 we suffered another recession although not as bad as the 1929 stock crash it still led to unemployment and dismay.
