After Lenin dies Joseph stalin becomes the ruler and rules brutally.He sets up hard prison camps and punished anyone who disagreed.His rule ended in 1953.

The great depression
When the stock market crashed there was a panic and people took their money back from the banks and most of the banks didnt have all the money needed. Many jobs were lost and everyone started to panic. Many companies closed down.

America during the Great Depression
Nobody had a lot of money. One Fourth of people didn't have jobs. It was really hard during this time to get a job. Many people were homeless. During the great depression there were small villages of tiny houses called hoovervilles. They called them hoovervilles because they blamed president Hoover for the great depression so they called these villages hoovervilles.

Roosevelts new deal
Roosevelt made many new jobs like building national parks and big dams. Many state parks in all states were built by the men who wanted jobs. More factories were reopened to produce jobs and America was slowly regaining shape.

Adolf Hitler took control of Germany. He led a organization called the nazi Party. Hitler became a dictator. Germany's side was Germany, Italy, and Japan. They were known as the axis powers. The holocaust
During the Holocost Nazi Germany commited some horrors and destroyed entire grouyps of people mostly the jews. They sent Jews and other minorities to concentration camps. They were then either killed or starved to death. They also had to work day and night hoping for escape. The nazis killed about
6 million Jews.

The Bombing of Pearl Harbor
In 1941, Japan attached American forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The attach drew the United States into World War 2. They joined the side of the allies because Japan was on the axis powers.

While war ended in Europe between German and the Allied forces. The war was still waging between the US and Japan. President Harry Truman wanted the war to to end quickly because he believed thousands of more people would die. He then decide d to drop the atomic bombs on the cities of hiroshima and hayasaki to end the war, and it did.

In 1950 communist North Korea invaded non-communist South Korea. This started the Korean War. During this war United States countries sent troops to support South Korea. Vietnam War
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam split into Communists North Vietnam and non-communists South Vietnam. In the 1960s the United States sent in American troups to support non-communists South Vietnam. Many people died in the Vietnam War. In 1975 communists North Vietnam defeated South Vietnam.

End of cold war
The Cold War ended in 1991 when Communism in the Soviet Union collapsed. It also ended because the russians realized capitalism produced more wealth than communism. After 1991 when the Cold War ended Russia became closer to America and accepted capitalism. The Soviet union then broke up into several independent nations.
