    Hilary Putnam (1926–2016)
1975 – Publication of "The Meaning of 'Meaning'" Hilary Putnam made significant contributions to the philosophy of science, particularly in challenging traditional views of language, meaning, and scientific realism. In his work, "The Meaning of 'Meaning'" (1975), Putnam introduced the influential thought experiment known as the Twin Earth scenario. This thought experiment aimed to undermine the traditional descriptivist theory of meaning and reference, proposing semantic externalism.
