In 1913, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs in California founded the Ghadar, meaning revolt, Movement in order to raise money for resistance to British colonial rule in India. -

In 1965, the Sikh situation in the United States changed drastically for the better, with new federal legislation that lifted old prohibitions and quotas.
