When the Normans invaded England, they destroyed a lot of the North of England, however, Leeds was left unscathed. -
The Makings of an Industrial City
In the early 17th century Leeds was a town used for the trade of wool and the city was flourishing. However, the Civil War and bubonic plague was to take its toll but Leeds' wool kept it's quality of being exceptionally good. Many coal mines were dug up , fueling new factories that had been recently built.
