Period: to
Marx's influence on Lenins thinking.
Lenin used Marx's theories to establish the Bolsheviks and make Communism the ideology of Russia. -
Russo-Japanese War
The loss to Japan in this war made the people even more upset with the Czar and helped to set in motion the overthrow of the his government. -
Bloody Sunday Massacre of 1905
This reminds of propaganda like the Boston Massacre in US History that was used to get people to fight for your cause. -
Russia enters World War I
Russia entered WWI to help its allies and its soldiers were slaughtered because they were not outfitted properly and their people at home suffered shortages of everything they needed which led to more protests and unhappiness. -
The Czar went to lead the war and left Czarina Alexandra in charge of Petrograd.
This was a mistake because the people did not like the Czarina. She fired people that were in charge who I am sure would rise against her and she was influence by a crazy dude named Rasputin who the people did not like. (The people murdered him) -
Russian Civil War
The Red Army fought for Lenin and the White Army, which was backed by amongst others the US, Japan, Great Britain and France. -
February Revolution
Hungry people protested in the streets and the Army that was called out to put them down started joining them. -
Romanovs executed.
I think this is very important because it puts to rest any thoughts of bringing back the monarchy. -
Bolshevik Revolution (October Revolution)
Lenin and the Bolsheviks have a bloodless revolution and take power from the Duma. -
Czar Nicholas Abdicates
Seems pretty rare to me that a person gives up the power without fighting more. I am thinking of more modern times perhaps but it sure seems like most despotic rulers are killed rather than quit. I suppose it is because he did not think they would kill him.
