Election of 1860
Lincoln is elected president of the United States of America, this terrifys and infuriates the South because they beleive that he will try to make them change the way they live their lives. -
Secession
Mississippi, Florida, Alabama,Georgia,Louisiana, and Texas seceed from the union, becaused they didnt like that Lincoln was the president. -
The War Begins
The Confederate States of America is born, and the Civil War offically begins. -
The Emancipation Proclamation
The emancipation proclamation is presented by Lincoln; this confirms the souths terrors and their suspisions that Lincoln would try to change their way of life. -
Atlanta
General Sherman and his troops pushed towards Atlanta, to cut the railways and roads off leading into the city. They destroyed the railways and forced the confederacy to evacuate Atlanta. -
Shermans March
Sherman and his army march to the sea; this march is supposed to cut the confederacy into two seperate pieces. Sherman and his men leave a trail of destruction behind them in Georgia. They ransacked houses, burned crops, killed cattla and desroyed towns. -
Sherman reaches the sea
Sherman and his troops finally reach the sea and seize Savannah for the Union. -
Election of 1865
Sherman and Grants military conquests show that lincoln is a successful leader and this helps Lincoln win the election of 1865. -
13th Amendment
The Thirteenth Amendment passed by congress; this banned slavery throuhgout the entire USA in any shape or form. -
The end of the War
Lee and his troops surrender at Petersburg. But to Lees astonishment Gen. Grant and the by extension the Union were very forgiving by not trying the confederate soilders for treason, and they allowed them to return home to their normal lives, but lives under the rule of the USA and lives without slavery. Just as soon as lee signed a document saying that he surrendered and that the war was over.
