    The Indian Removal Act was an act that was passed in the spring of 1827 in order to get the Natives off their previous territory in order for the white colonizers to use and farm that land instead.

    The trail of tears was the path that the Native Americans were all forced to take once the Indian Removal act was set into motion. They were all being tailed by military and police in order for them to move to Indian territory which is now modern day Oklahoma.

    The Civil War was a war that took place during the spring of 1861 between the Union and the confederacy over mainly the of slaves and their rights as human.

    The Reconstruction Treaties
    The Reconstruction treaties were treaties signed by Tribes in the Indian territory that would abolish slavery and agreed to have two railroads across the previously untouched Indian Territory. The treaties also affected the size of the Territory by giving up the west half and allowing cattlemen to run herds over the land.

    The Dawes was set in place in order to divide the Reservation into individual plots of land in and give the Natives their own individual land and hopefully spark white greed in them and also to make way for white settlers in the Reservation.

    The first major white settlement on Indian territory. The land was very cheap at the time of the Land Rush in order for it to sell, more specifically to white people.
  • The Indian Reorganization Act

    The Indian Reorganization Act
    The Indian Reorganization Act was used to encourage tribes to assimilate into white culture and give them land and their own constitution that was to be modeled after the U.S. own. It was a step in the right direction for Native rights but definitely not enough to put them on par with white people.
