Wisconsin Conservation Congress discuss Deer and Elk Bills
The Wisconsin Conservation Congress pass numerous Deerk and Elk bill August 10 2013. The department's agenda included topics such as but not limited to the 2013 deer season reduction in quotas, deer research project started in 2010, and deer health CWD (which focused on new CWD outbreaks). Senator Terry Moulton discusses crossbow bill with the Wisconsin Conservation Congress. No action was taken after discussion of the crossbow bill since it was not on the agenda. -
Elk and Deer committee talk quota and permit settings after discussing important updates
March 22, 2014, the Wisconsin Conservation congress, Elk and Deer committee discuss important updates and introduce quota settings as a major concern this winter. Attendee Kevin Wallenfang noted that the deer harvest is trending down. As a result of the downtrend, DNR is looking into modifying index parameters. The goal is to increase deer and stabilize in balance of state. The updates pertain to the downtrend of deer. CWD management was reintroduced along with the Elk WNDR update. -
Elk and Deer committee resolve multiple hunting restrictions
Attendees of the August 9, 2014 meeting minutes discuss the restrictions on Elk and Deer hunting with the Elk and Deer committee. Many concerns were brought about this season as attendees address the committee. After the address, the committee decided to resolve several restrictions for hunters. Perhaps the most important on the agenda was the resolution of ban baiting and feeding. One attendee asked for a public vote against the ban. -
Attendees present information on antlerless tag price increase
Public from Barron County, Bret Moravitz suggests that the antlerless tags increase in price from $12 to $24 after a neighbor shot 14 deer in his area. Attendee Scott Loomans presented information about the free antlerless tags in 2014, and continuing on into 2015.Motion made by Larry Bonde with second by Jay Koenig requesting the DNR Department make 2015 tags public & specific land specific in counties. Motion passed with one opposition. Opposition was not clearly stated. -
