Peace of Augsburg
A devote catholic, Charles, fought Muslims and was against Lutherans. But in 1555 he unwillingly sighed the Peace of Augsburg, which allowed princes of Germany to choose the religion of their territory. A year later he divided his empire. -

American mines supplied Spain with an estimation of 339,000 pounds of gold. Between 1550 and 1650 16,000 tons of silver bullion from Spanish ships. This helped with their economy.
