Missouri Compromise
Congress passed a law that had admitted Misssouri a slave stae and Maine a free state -

Dred Scott Case
The opinion delivered by Chief Justice Roger Taney issued on march 6th declared thatslaves were not citizens of the U.S and were unable to sue in federal quotes. The decission that the Misouri compromise was unconstitutional and that congress did not have the authority to prohibit slaves in the territories. -
Raid On Harpers Ferry
White abolitionist, John Brown led 20 men on a raid to Harperrs Ferry to trigger an armed slave revolt. The plan was thwarted by a detachment of U.S. Marines led by Col. Robert E. Lee.Prior to the attacl john wanted harriet tubman and Fredrick Douglass but Harriet Tubman couldnt beacsue of illnjess and Douglass belived that the plan would fail. -
