Boston Tea Party
The Tea Party was the culmination of a resistance movement throughout British America against the Tea Act, which had been passed by the British Parliament in 1773. Colonists objected to the Tea Act for a variety of reasons, mainly because they believed that it violated their right to be taxed only by their own elected representatives. -
First Continental Congress meets
Deligate from 12 of the thirteen colonies exept Georgia. Their were 56 deligates.including people like George Washington and Patric Henry. -
Begining of the Revolutionary War
This was was the result of the political american revolution. They thought that the Stamp act was unconstitutional. They thought that taxation without reprisentation was unfair and illegal. -
2nd continental congress meets
The Second Continental Congress meeting started with the battle of Lexington and Concord fresh on their minds. The New England militia were still encamped outside of Boston trying to drive the British out of Boston. The Second Continental Congress established the militia as the Continental Army to represent the thirteen states. They also elected George Washington as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. -
Decloration of Independance
They all wanted to make america an official country. With this document they officially declared them selves a free nation.
