sugar act
sugar and other goods such as coffe and indigo started to get taxed by the british government. The british government started these taxes to finance the defense of the colonies. -
the stamp act
all legal documents, newspapers, and pamphlets required stamps which started to get taxed. -
the quartering act
the british troops angered the colonist in the quartering act. The colonists had to provide supplies and barracks for the british troops. -
The Declaratory Act
Since the stamp act was repealed the british started the Declaratory Act. The Declaratory act gave the british the right to tax the clonies. -
The Townshend Act
In the Townshend act taxes were initiated on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. This act was to help the british pay for the administration of the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
A group of british soldiers opened fire in Boston. 3 americans were killed and 2 were fatally wounded. -
Tea Act
The tea act allowed for tea to be sold directly to the colonies from the East India Compny. This also allowed for tea to be taxed. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists were angered because of the tea act and how the tea with tax was sold directly to the colonies from the East India Company. With the anger from the colonists they diguised themselves as indians and dumped the East India Company's tea into the boston harbour. -
The Coercive Act
The loading and unloading of ships in Boston was banned because of the Boston Tea party. The Adminstration of Justice act allowed them to transfer to England.
