    Charles Babbage (1791-1891) in 1837 created the first mechanical computer, he called it a Analytical Engine. The Analytical Engine contained an ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit). It is the first of its kind computer concept that could be used for many things and not only one particular computation. To say this in an easier perspective the analytical engine was a program controlled by punched cards.
