Roger Bacon
Roger Bacon was one of the first people to favor the system of scientific experimentation. Bacon, who studied at Oxford and Paris, was viewed as a leading scholar of his time. He mainly practiced alchemy and became famous for his teaching. Even though Bacon studied and taught in the 1200's, his findings would impact the world of science for a long time. -

Magic and Science
During this period most Europeans thought that some of the things we know today as science as magic instead. They thought it couldn't be explained so they reverted to calling it magic, little did they know some of that "magic" was actually science -
1525
Nicolaus Copernicus
Copernicus was a great polish scientist, and is viewed today as the founder of modern astronomy. He created the theory that the Earth is a moving planet and it revolves around the sun. he played a very big role in the start of the Scientific Revolution and modern day astronomy. -
1543
The Copernicus Theory
His theory stated nearly everything that he had studied during his studies of astronomy. He said that the Earth was a moving planet and revolved around the sun. His theory went against Ptolemy's Theory because he said that not only the Earth revolved around the sun but also that the sun was the center of the universe. This led to his theory not getting much attention. It went against what people thought and therefore people automatically discarded it even though it turned out to be right. -

Experiments and Discoveries
during this and around this time many discoveries were being made in Europe by many famous scientists. These people being, Roger Bacon, René Descartes, and Galileo Galilei. These led to the big scientific revolution of this time. One of the more famous findings and books that came out were all the things about the solar system and how everything works along. Overall this was a crazy time in science and the starting point of the scientific revolution. -

Recognizing Science
During this time period the change from science being magic to science being what it actually is was occurring. Many scientists started to realize that some things around the world did not make sense with what people explained them as. This was the beginning of the Scientific Revolution. -
Galileo Galilei
Galileo believed that the scientific study would change the way that people understood themselves and the world around them. He also thought that science would weaken the social and economic barriers that separated people. He created the telescope as well and when he published this and what he thought a lot of people disagreed since it contradicted the Bible. in a good or bad way, either way, he was a huge influence in the world of science. -
The Real Science
Thanks to Roger Bacon and many other famous scientists findings the word science became what it actually is. before this time the word science meant "to know", but around this time is when the word changed to what we know it as today -
Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler, a German astronomer, was also a brilliant mathematician. these both led him into proving Copernicus's Heliocentric theory correct. He did this by using many models and observation and even his brilliance in mathematics played a role in testing his theory. Although some of the things that surrounded the theory were wrong, he was able to power through this and take the main point and prove that the Earth does in fact rotate around the Sun. -
Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon, lived around the same time as René Descartes. Bacon, almost like the Roger Bacon, thought that no scientific theories could be trusted without observation. He said that no assumption could be trusted without being proven by multiple scientific experimentation. It is funny that two people who are famous for thinking this both have the same last name. I guess Bacon thinks alike as well as tastes alike. -
René Descartes
Descartes described how the universe works and why. he said it works in a machine like way. He explained this and proved this by using the laws of physics. He is the maker of what we know today as our modern Western view of the Universe and it's physical property. He was also a mathematician and played a huge part in the scientific revolution, many people would say that he was even the leader of the scientific revolution. Overall this guy made a deep impact in the scientific revolution. -
Galileo and His Telescope
Galileo had read and studied many dutch findings on multiple things. He took these and made his own device to study these things. He made what we know today as the telescope and used this to study outer space. He was the first to see the mountains and craters on the Moon, he observed the rings around Saturn and spots on the Sun. He drew what he saw and finally published his findings and drawings in 1632. This caused an uproar as many people had many different opinions on his research. -
Newtons Laws of Motion
in this year Newton published what is called today as Newtons 3 laws of motion. This is world known thing that is one of the staples of science. Newton added to the chaos in the world of outer space and what was actually happening in our solar system. His book was also about the findings of Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo which caused even more talk about this topic. He explained his thoughts and take on the situation with his findings and the famous 3 laws of motion. -
Finding an Element
Robert helped pioneer the modern science of chemistry. For those who don know what chemistry is, chemistry is the studies of the composition of matter and how it changes. in 1662 year Boyle showed and proved that temperature and pressure affect the space that a gas occupies. This led to Joseph Priestley discovering the element of Oxygen and later on Antoine Lavoisier naming it. All this comes together and makes the element of Oxygen a new discovery. -
Priestley and Lavoisier
These two scientists made some exceptional discoveries around 1775. Some of these being the finding and naming of the element of oxygen and proving to people that fire is not an element. Both of them worked throughout Europe. They worked during a time where the science revolution was near over and ways to do science had gotten around. Despite this, they both still made discoveries that people didn't know about yet making the both of them even more fascinating than they are already are. -
The Ending of the Revolution
Around this time most of the major scientific discoveries were made and the main ways to find these things out have spread around. This leading to the end of the Revolution. The Scientific Revolution was a crazy time that effected and changed the world of science forever. It is looked back on today and will continue to be looked back on as a way of teaching science and the discoveries will also continue to be looked back on because of what they taught us. This revolution was one to remember.
