Free and Reduced Lunch Program
This program act was signed by president Harry Truman in 1946. It provides nutritionally balanced/ reduced lunches to children at school each day. -
Milk Program
The milk program began in 1940 but it was made a part of the Child Nutrition Act in 1960. This program provides needy children with a low price pint of whole milk. -
Breakfast Program
This program was made permanent in 1975. It provides students with a healthy breakfast at a free or reduced price and this is also based off of your family income. -
Child Care Food Program
This program began in 1968 for mainly children then 10 years later in 1978 it expanded to where is covered all public or non profit institutions or sponsored facilities, licensed or approved to care for children. -
Social Security Act
This act permitted eligible non residential child daycare institutions to receive children reimbursement for feeding children 12 years of age and younger. It also set the age for migrant workers at 15 years or younger. -
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
This program authorized CACFP reimbursement for snacks to children through age 18 in "At- Risk" afterschool centers. This means at least 50% of the enrolled children are eligible for free or reduced price meals. Also provides for public and non- profit facilities.
