The Uprising
It came after the election in 2017, America was deeply split by political party. There was talk of people leaving the country because Donald Trump became president. Protests in the streets were becoming a daily occurrence. It was clear it was time for a change. The first fight came in the midwest when a protest got out of hand. 50 people were killed in the streets, from both political parties. -

America's Second Civil War
It was a long and bloody time in American history, worse than the first civil war. The fighting was mostly concentrated in the western states and the midwest, with funding for each side coming from the now crumbling government in Washington D.C. The armies were comprised by political party. In the end there was no winner, and there was no more America. All of the states became their own sovereign nation. -
The White House Burns
Although there had been no president living in the white house since 2020, after the election failed to produce accurate results, it was a very symbolic time for America. The white house burning showed that the American system was not working, and would not ever be able to work again. -
The War Ends
There was no definitive ending to the war, it just sort of fizzled out when both sides had lost so many lives and the federal government was basically eradicated. A little after the fighting stopped in the west and some small skirmishes in the east, a document called "The End All" was signed, stating that each state was now a sovereign nation and the United States Government no longer existed. -
Carter City Rises
America lived in shambles for a long time, basically in a state of anarchy. The states wanted virtually nothing to do with each other and their constitutions were now meaningless since they were based of the lost U.S. Constitution. There was, however, one area that was thriving in what used to be Austin, Texas, which was Carter City. It was run by a former southern Republican Governor Sophia Carter and had a functioning economy, unlike most cities. -
Carter City Confederation Written
This was the first layout for the government of Carter City, and it was relatively similar to the United States, but different enough that it didn't upset the war veterans. It established that there would at the time be no president, but one would be elected when a proper constitution was written. -

Carter City Politica Convention
This was a five day event which took place in the heart of Carter City, which now encompassed most of what was Texas. it was the first time many different political systems were looked at in one setting. There were keynote speakers from all over the city-state that spoke about the different forms of government in order to decide what was right for the new nation. This would become a bi-yearly event and gave the nation its living government. -
Carter City Constitution is Written
In order to create a new constitution Sophia Carter allowed the citizens to vote for who they wanted to represent them to write the constitution. Five people were elected from each political party, and Sophia Carter did not support either party and remained neutral. The elected officials met in a glass high-rise building in the center of Carter City and it was televised throughout the nation, allowing people to weigh in on social media. The new constitution was written entirely digitally.
