The D-Day invasion off the banks of Normandy marks the beginging of the end of WWII in Europe. -

The Soviets blockade West Berlin and in return the Western allies, including the United States, send airlifts over te blockades that carry supplies for the peole. -

In 1949 Mao established the Peoples Republic of China. Nationalists fled to Taiwan. -

The Soviets launch Sputnik into orbit. Sputnik was the first satellite in space. This even was followed up the space race between the Soviet Union and the United States. -
Cubin Missle Crisis
The Cuban missle crisis stared by the Soviet Union was a close beginging of what could have potentially been WWIII. Thankfully after 13 days the crisis was averted and the Soviet Union withdrew their nuclear war heads from Cuba. -

President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas Texas in 1963. -
