First Grade Reading
When I was in first grade, they gave us this green book to teach us what’s good and what’s not. I LOVED that book, for no specific reason. I went home and read that book to my "class" of children everyday after school and that's how I decided I wanted to be a teacher. (that’s not the book, I just couldn’t remember the name) -
Scared to Read
I’ve always been really bad at reading out loud, I stutter a lot. So all throughout my years of school, i’ve never read anything out loud that I didn’t have to. No matter how much I wanted too, I just wouldn’t do it. -
The magic treehouse series
In about second grade I got obsessed with the magic tree house series, and read every single one of them very quickly. I didn't read them in order because they were popular at the time and were always checked out of the library. -
Have You Filled A Bucket Today?
In 2nd grade, my guidance counselor read us this book called “Have You Filled A Bucket Today?”. That’s when I decided I trusted her and wanted to start seeing her about my childhood problems. That’s the start to how I got close with my elementary guidance counselor. -
The Castle
In 3rd grade my teacher had a castle in his room that had beanbags in it, and we only got to go in there if we were reading or writing. So I did a lot of reading and writing that year haha. -
The Dork Diaries
In around 5-6th grade I found a Dork Diaries book and read it in class during our 10 min reading. I originally got the book because i didn't want to read and it didn't look like it had too many words and it had pictures. great. well then I fell in love and read only those books for like the next year and a half. -
Spelling Test
In 6th grade we had spelling tests and my teacher always used more complex words and that’s what really boosted my vocabulary -
The Best Christmas Present Ever
In 8th grade I wrote a story called The Best Christmas Present Ever. Mrs. Mort made me feel so good about that piece. She tried to set up readings for me to read it to people and everything, but I wouldn't do it of course. She even told me I should read it to my family on Christmas morning to put everyone in a better mood. Ever since then ive kept that notebook, because that reading that story just makes me feel great about myself even though now i hate that story. -
Math Class Cursive
At the end of my 8th grade year, we had already learned all of the criteria we needed for both that year and a semester of the next, so my teacher taught us how to write in cursive and that’s where I learned how too. -
Sunday School
In 8th and 9th grade, I taught the birth- pre-k sunday school class at my church and this caused me to have to learn to interpret the bible into a way that they would understand.
