    1906 San Francisco earthquake: About 430 km were ruptured in Northern California. The epicenter was near San Francisco. At least 3,000 people died in the earthquake and subsequent fires. The magnitude was estimated to be 7.8. Many of the deaths where not reported as many people didn't. They only thought 300 people had died at the time but in 2005 they had realized that over 3,000 people had died.
