Supreme Court Case
Dred Scott was a slave who was sent back to the South after reaching freedom in the North. He sued and the Supreme court decided that the Congress couldn't forbid slavery in territories. The Supreme Court also decided that slaves were not and could not ever be citizens of the U.S.A., thus prohibiting them to suing again. -

Abraham was the 16th president of the United Staes and played a very important role during the Civil War. -

A union army, led by Ulysses S. Grant, was travelling on the Tennesee River, when they were surprise-attacked by the Confederates. The Union won and there were 23,746 casualties. -

An important battlesite, where the Confederates (led by Robert E. Lee) was defeated for the second time. 46,286 people died in this battle (23,055 from the Union and 23,231 from the Confedereate side) -
Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee was one the most famous Confederate Generals from the Civil War. His surrender on April 9, 1865 at the Battle of Appomattox was basically the end of the war. -
Battle of Appomattox
General Lee, attempting to move South, was currently travelling West when the Confederates engaged in battle with a Union army. The Confederates had no other choice but to surrender. This battle was the end of the Civil War. -

Andrew Johnson
Andrew Johnson, Lincoln's Vice president, was elected president after Lincoln and was the first president during the Reconstruction Era. As Lincoln's successor, Johnson continued Lincoln's plans to make the United States a more unified country. He was later impeached. -

The 13th Ammendment declared that slavery in the U.S.A. was illegal. -

The 15th Amendment said that any man, despite his race or color, could vote. Women were still unable to vote until the 19th Amendment. -
