Salem was founded by Roger Conant and a group of immigrants from Cape Ann. The settlement was first called Naukeag, but it was then changed to Salem, the Hebrew word for peace. -

Strange Behaviour
Abigail Williams and Betty were behaving very strangely. They claimed to be possessed by the devil. Soon other Salem village girls were displaying similar behaviours. -
Accusing
The girls accuse Tituba, Sarah Good and Sarah Osborne, of witchcraft. -
Witches
Tituba lies and goes along with the girl's scheme, and admits that there are many witches in Salem. Soon, other civilians fall into the trap of the scheme, and begin to accuse one another.
