    Columbus landing in New World

    Columbus landing in New World
    Columbus started his trip to discover India. After months of travelling with the three ships he found land and he named it San Salvador. He thought he landed in India but he didn't. He started capturing the land by building new settlements and bringing in more people. He wanted gold so he started forcing the people to get him gold otherwise they were going to get punished.

    Columbian Exchange
    The Columbian Exchange started after Columbus landed in the New Worl (America). He claimed the land and named it San Salvador but he found some people already so he tried to capture it. So he started using the native americans and started to find gold. He send ships to Old World (Europe) and started bringing european to goods to America and started sending american goods to Europe. He also brought diseases to America and lots of new things.

    Jamestown
    Jamestown was named after King James. Jamestown is located in a Peninsula. It was a really harsh place. The leader of the place Captain James Smith.

    New France
    Since Spain started getting wealthier every year, a french man name Jacques Cartier started exploring the Atlantic coastline of North America. His goal was to water to find a water route through North America to the Pacific Ocean. But he failed so he claimed a land for France which we now know as Cananda. He also discovered beaver fur and that was spanish gold. That gave France a huge advantage and they started to make a lot of profit out of it
  • The Lost Colony of Roanoke

    The Lost Colony of Roanoke
    After a century after Jamestown a man name Sir Walter Raleigh started to build a colony in Ranoke Island. They started to build the colony slowly but then when they ran out of supplies. So Walter send a second group but they were too late for the season to plant crops. Then the leader went back to and the fighting borke them between Spain and England. When White finally reached Ranoke the colonists and untill now it remain a mystery.
  • Starving Time

    Starving Time
    Jamestown was going through a lot of trouble. After John Smith got injured from the gunpowder he returned back to England and that winter was known as the starving time. Without Smith and Pocahontas, the Indians disagreed to trade with the settlers. The English ate dogs, rats and even human corps to stay alive. By spring, only 50 of the 500 remained alive.
  • New Netherlands

    New Netherlands
    While John Smith was away the Dutch Merchants sponsored Henry Hudson to explore the coastline farther from Netherlands. Hudson discoved a river full of fishes and he thought that it would take him all the way across the continent. So he claimed land across Netherlands. The river he claimed was called Hudson and the territory that he claimed ws called New Netherlands. The colonies slowly settled and the first Dutch colonies settled along the Hudson river.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    Boston decided to fortify two hills, Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill. Israel Putnam send a few hundred up the Breed's Hill. Then after a long time of digging, they found a crude hill on top of the hill. Howe, who came with a fresh troop oredered an imediate attack, but Putnam didn't tell his troop to attack. More then 1,000 British men were killed. The British and Americans knew that a war had begun.
  • The Siege of Boston

    The Siege of Boston
    A week later, George Washington found an army under very little discipline, order, or government. Then later on Washington found out that he had on 36 barrels of gunpowder. So, he started sending letlers to colonies begging for gunpowder. Washington got his powder, but he still neaded heavy artillery, guns and cannons. Washington send Ticonderoga to get all these things. After few months he was back with 39 cannons and 2,300 pounds of bullets.

    Proclamation of 1763
    After the Indian and the French war, the king decided to stop the war because he was running out of money. He told the British to stay on east of the Appalachians and Indians to the west. The colonosits were very happy because they wanted to explore new land and the farmers also had the oppurtunity to find better land for farming.

    n this act the colonists were suppose to stamp on every peice of paper they used. Colonists werent very happy with this. They thought this was another way of collecting tax. They said that "no taxation without representaion" which basically meant that they werent willing to pay anything without a representation. Colonists started protesting and sending letters to the parliament and many refused to buy the stamp. The after months of protesting the Parliament finally repealed.

    The Quartering Act
    After the Stamp Act the King launched another act. In this act the colonists had to provide troops with quarters or housing. The had to be taken care and to this they also needed to pay. The King said that they were safety to the colony but they were doing nothing. The King also said that if the colonists dont obey then there wont be another assembly. They also refused to repeal the law and again, tempers were rising.
  • The Townshed Act

    The Townshed Act
    The British leader decided to have an army in the colony to control the misbehavior of the colonists. There was another law which was that the colonists had to pay tax for certain goods like paper, paint, glass and tea. They were not very happy with this law so they started protesting and sending letters to the parliament. The King decided to repeal the law except for the tax on tea.

    Tea Act
    King Geoge got even angrier and he stated another law. This act was called the stamp act and in this act the colonists were only allowed to drink British east Indian tea. The colonists weren't happy about this act also. They wanted to drink tea that were not british. More protest started happening and one huge incident happened. The time was call the Boston Tea Party. The government held a tea party and decided to celebrate but the colonists brought ships and dumped that tea in the sea.
  • The Intolerable Act

    The Intolerable Act
    The colonists named this act the intolerable act because it was very harsh and not acceptable. King George said that its not about tax anymore its about controlling the colony. He made four different laws. The first one that there wont be any shipping if the money for the tea wasnt paid. The second one was that the colonists couldnt hold a town meeting without the governer's permission. The third law was that the soldiers who were accused of murder would be tried in England, not in the colonies
  • Lexington and Concored

    Lexington and Concored
    The King decided that he wont answer any of the messages that came for the colonists. He send a troop of 700 men to watch over the gunpowder the colonists were using. The colonists were ready with everything but they decided that they wont fire untill they fired. So they decided to stay in peace. But unfortunately someone did fire and killed 8 men and 10 wounded. No one knows who fired the first shot.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    The second continental congress met in Philadelphia. They decided to give the job of leading the army to George Washington and he decided to make a continental army. A army with people from different colonies. George Washington happily took the job and started to think about creating his army.
  • Constitutional Convention

    Constitutional Convention
    Meetings were held in the Independence Hall and the delegates from the states were deciding to elect a president. First they thought of electing George Washington, but unfortunately he started living his life as a normal citizen. Their were lots of arguements going on if they wanted another president or someone as a leader becuase they didnt want someone controling them again. The meetings were held private and their was one man named James Madison who took notes in the hall.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    Shay made a rule that every state would have their own currency. It was a big problem. 13 different currencies were flying around places and the people didnt know how much they worth. Shay also took away a lot of lands and he weopons so people wont have of paying of their debts, Shay wanted them to work hard and pay off their debts.
  • The Lousiana Purchase

    Lousiana and the United states made a treaty. U.S. didn't any war or any blood to be shread so they decided to take it in a peaceful way. They made a treaty of dividing the land. U.S. bought the land for $15 million. It was known as the one of the biggest treaty in history.
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    The Civil War started in 1861. It all started after the two sides (Union and Confederacy) started disagreeing with eachothers rules. The presidant of the Union was Abraham Lincoln and the presidant of Confederacy was Jefferson Davis. People started seceding from the Confederacy because they weren't happy with some situations, such as slavery. The war was over after about 90 days and after the war was over presidant Lincoln went up to the battlefien and delivered his adress of Gettysburg.
  • Virginia

    My colony started with very few colonists. But then because of the production of tobacco, more people started coming in. Tobacco was a huge production in Virginia. People came in because they would get richer and it would also make Virginia richer. Trading tobacco to other countries was a big profit for Virginia. Virginia also continued with religion and a lot of other occupations. Also Virginia was the first succesful colony in America.
  • Uncle Toms Cabin

    Uncle Toms Cabin
    A book was released in the states called "Uncle Tom's Cabin". This book was very popular in the north side. The northerners who read it gave them a positive disagreement about slavery in the south. They slowly found out how slavery was such a bad thing and why was it bad. This was a bad news for the southerners. They didnt want people being againts slavery in the south because that would be a bad news for them and slavery would slow down.
  • Congress rufuse to Anti-Slavery

    Congress rufuse to Anti-Slavery
    The Northerners and Southerners were debating a lot about slavery and then then congress decides to refuse the anti-slavery. Wich was not a good news for the Northerners because that will cause more debate. But it was a good news for the Southerners because they would have to worry less about slavery. The final descision was that congress is not allow to refuse anything, they all have to get to an agreement and so there was no more slave trade.
  • Missouri applied for state hood

    Missouri applied for state hood
    Missouri applied as a slave state. This became a problem for the northerners because it would be unfair for them. The two sides will have unever states. But this was a advantage for the southerners because they have one extra slave state. So unfortunately the final decision was that Missouri and Mein would stay as a neutral state.
  • Dread Scott case

    This was a case where a slave name Dread Scott escape and went to the north. The northerners were saying that he is a free slave now, but the southerners refused. The arguements were that he cannot get in the court because hes not a citizen
