66' Buidling

First building on SVSU campus,housed all buildings and classes. In 1983 it was used for personnel and purchasing. Now it is known as the university police building. In 1965 legislation was passed to make the school a state institution. -
'68 Building

Now known as south complex A,B and C. Was first intended for classroom and redesigned for personnel in 83'. It is now used for Information Technology Services (ITS). -
Theatre

The outdoor theatre is made for various performances and plays that are usually put on during the summer. It was later converted into an enclosed theatre. -
IF #1 Wickes Hall

Wickes purpose was for classrooms, laboratories, student and faculty lounges. When it was remodeled in 86' they removed the laboratories and moved them to the new science building. The building now has some classrooms on the second floor but the first floor is for admissions, financial aid and the registrar. -
Dorms (A-E)

The dorms were made for student housing as the demand for student dormatories went up before 1969. The dorms themselves can house up to five hundred students. -
Cardinal Gym`

With students actually living on campus, SVSU needed a place for students to excerise and also learn physical education. But with the construction of the ryder center in 1989, the cardinal gym was incorporated in the ryder center. -
Doan Center

Original purpose of the Doan was for a cafeteria and student activites. In 93' a conference room was added and it still remained a student center. -

Each building has a variety of classrooms in it, even Zahnow Library. As of today Brown building is for behavioral sciences. There was no science east/west until the science east add-on in November 2001. -
Arbury Fine Arts; Fredericks Sculpture Museum

Arbury was designed for students who were taking courses in the arts and music categories as well. -
Ryder Center; O'Neill Arena

Ryder Center took over the Cardinal Gym and incorporated it into the space. Ryder center has some classrooms on the second floor mostly for kinesiology classes. The O'Neill Arena is the the large basketball arena. -
Wickes Memorial Stadium

SVSU has been growing rapidly since 2000, this can be seen with the new living center dormatory added to help with the influx of new students. Improvements happened in 2009 when my soccer ball was added to the roof of the building and still remains there to this day. -

Fitness center was designed for aerobics and is still known as the fitness center today. While the cardinal gym is known as the varsity gym. -

Regional Education center was designed for teachers for the mid-Michigan area. Outreach progams such as SOLVE(Science Outreach Leadership Venture for Excellence) and MOLVE(Mathematics Outreach Leadership Venture for Excellence). The literacy center can also be found here The building is primarily for education majors. -
SVSU free Health Clinic

The newest addition to the SVSU campus is meant for students in nursing, kinesiology, occupational therapy, health sciences and social work.
This building also includes state of the art green technology, by using an underwater thermal heating system which can save the school 86,000 dollars a year in heating costs.
