Isma'il
Saffavid ruler who came to power at the age of fourteen. Despite his age, he proved to be a compitent leader and by the age of 16, he had conquered modern-day Iran. He was the first ruler to declare hiself ruler or shah. Later on in his reign, Isma'il became a religious tyrant, killing all citizens who refused to convert to Shi'ism. He destroyed the Sunni population of Baghdad in his confrontation with the Ottoman Turks. He also fought against Selim the Grim in the battle of Chaldiran. -

Shah Abbas created the Safavid culture that drew from the best of the Ottoman, Persian, and Arab worlds. He reformed the Safavid military, limiting the power of the redheads and creating two new armies loyal only to him. Abbas also reformed the Safavid government, severly punishong corruption and promoting only the loyal and compitent officials. Abbas also created relations with Europe. He also rebuild and beutified the capital city of Isfahan. -
