The Great depression began when the stock market crashed. This led to mass unemployment and many economic issues across the world. This also leads to the rise of Fascist governments. This is important because it leads other countries like Germany to find strong leaders with bad mindsets. Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany.
Hitler who was the leader of the Nazi party, a party that was very nationalistic became chancellor of germany. This is important because Hitler ended up turning Germany into a military dictatorship and began to build up a military which was against the Treaty of Versailles.

Jews attacked in the streets of the Third Reich.
Nazis began to burn down jewish property, businesses, and synagogues. This showed extreme racism and an all time high for violence. Many policeman and security just stood by. This is important because it shows what the Nazi party will do to get through to the people. Many men arrested for being Jewish.
Many men the day after the Kristallnacht were arrested for being Jewish. These men were sent to concentration camps. This foreshadowed the horrific events that could happen to the Jews.

Hitler invades Poland.
Many people believe this to be the start of World War II. When Hitler invaded Poland this caused Britain and France to declare war on Germany. This is believed to have started the World War in Europe.

Hitler takes over France.
On June 14th 1940 Hitler invaded France, eventually taking over the country. This only left Britain free from Hitler's reign. Hitler ruled ruthlessly while there were fighters trying to take back freedom from him. (These never worked very well). This leads to Hitler's battles with Britain.

Pearl Harbor.
On December 7th 1941 Japan attacked the United States. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. They killed over 2,000 americans. This caused the United States to declare war on Japan which led to Germany and Italy declaring war on the United States. This is important because this led to the US getting into the war.

Nazis retreat from North Africa
The US and UK combined forces and decided to weaken the Nazis by reclaiming North Africa. In the end US and UK were successful. The two allies later attacked Sicily and over battle the US and UK were successful. This is important because it showed that the Nazis and their allies could lose the war.

D-Day.
D-Day was an invasion planned by the allied forces. Their plan was to drop in paratroopers on the German territory then all forces would step into action. After days of battle the allied forces won & began to push into France. This is important because after D-Day the US took over France & this marked a turning point in the war.

Hitler commits suicide.
As allied powers pushed into Germany Hitler knew that it was only timed before he was caught. This would mean the death penalty for him. So on April 30th 1945 Hitler committed suicide. This led to all of the Nazis that were left to surrender. This is important because it means that Germany was done with the war.

The Atomic Bomb.
In July of 1945 the allied powers created an ultimatum for Japan to end the war. They refused to take the offer and on August 6th 1945 the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. This killed thousands and hurt even more. When Japan refused still the US dropped another on Nagasaki. Japan asked for peace on August 10th.

The Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.
November 20th 1945, 200 of the highest ranked Nazis were taken into court. Of the 22 highest 12 were sentenced to death. Others were sentenced to high years to life in prison or commited suicide before trial. 3 of the 22 were free. This is important because it shows that the allied powers are not afraid to take action.
