    Alexander the 2nd is assassinated by a terrorist group called the people's will. They gave up on the people and used terror to get their message across. However it backfired on them as the next czars limited the freedoms of the people and the groups.

    RIght before russia's humiliating defeat to japan, at the time a small island nation, a large group of st petersburg workers marched on the czar's palace. THe had a small list of demands but their peaceful protest was met with soldiers who opened fire on them. A total of 130 protesters were killed come to be known as bloody sunday.

Having lost control of his army, country, and people Nicholas gave up the throne.

He established the bolshevik party. He returned to russia with help from germans in April of 1917. As soon as he returned he began plotting against the provisional government.
