    The Union Of Soviet Socialist Republics is established. It was a compromised confederation of Russia, Belorrusia, Ukraine, and the transcaucasian Republic. This was a successor of the Russian Empire. It also became the first country in the world to be based on marxist socialism. This soviet was going to be one of the most important soviets this world ever had.

    Czar Alexander II was assassinated by the Peoples Will group who were a bunch of terrorist who wanted to assassinate the czar to overthrow him.They wanted to overthrow him because he did not give freedom or rights to everyone else and that is what the people wanted.In result the people's will was organized in 1879 they attempted to assassinate the czar multiple times. In 1881 though they had a successful attack when someone threw a bomb and it killed Czar Alexander II.

    Russia was very close to losing the war in the Far East . Czarist Russia is then wracked with internal discontent that they finally explode. It explodes into violence in St. Petersburg which becomes known as Bloody Sunday. In Bloody Sunday a group of workers led by the radical priest Georgy Apollonovich Gapon. They went up to the Czar palace and made their demands, but the czar did not like it and then came gunshots. Then came many riots and all of Blood Sunday went down.

    World War I began because of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. His wife Sophie was also killed by the Serbian nationalist. This sparked other countries to ally with each other which cause a huge conflict. Austria Hungary and Serbia are the reason that World War I started. Alliances with other countries were a good thing, so other countries were protected, but they were also a bad thing because they could cause a huge war like World War I.

    The February revolution was the first revolution in the Russian Revolution of 1917. It was the first revolution in Russia over a 400 year span which always had a government of a monarchy. It began in St. Petersburg when women factory workers, angered over the food shortages and protested having to stand in line for bread. Then men in nearby factories came along to help the women and nearly all workers in Petrograd were on strike.

    Bolshevik leader Lenin returns after 10 years in exile. Right, when he gets back he orders for the soviets to overthrow the Provisional government. However, the Bolsheviks were not high up and did not have an impact with the soviets at all.They were now the minority. The soviets were now ran by the Mensheviks and other less radical revolutionaries. The Bolsheviks workers went to the streets of Petrograd and tried to do what their leader wanted, but they were shut down by the Petrograd Soviet.

    The uprising from the bolsheviks fails in petrograd which is known as the July days. In the beginning of July thousands of people were on the streets of Petrograd and most of them were factory workers, soldiers, and sailors who were members of the bolshevik party. They were angry with the war and the collapse in government ministry. They decided to try to have an uprising because of this. They were not ready though and the bolsheviks failed completely and their leaders were arrested.

    Lenin decided to overthrow the provisional government when the All Russia Congress of Soviets met in Petrograd. That made it so the revolt looked more like a takeover by all of the soviets instead of a single political party. The night before the provisional government was overthrown the bolsheviks took over bridges, telegraph offices, railroad stations, and other key parts to the city. Then that very next night the provisional government surrendered, because they were going to be overthrown.

    Russia withdraws from World War I for a few reasons. They did not have a good leader when it came to this war as Czar Nicholas II was not experienced as a military leader at all. This hurt them in the early stages, so as the war went on they were already in bad shape. They also entered this war when Russia was in an economic and political instability. This also made the begging to this war difficult. In the end Russia decided their best decision was to withdraw from the war.

    The capital of Russia is changed from St Petersburg to Moscow for some good reasons. Moscow was in the center of Russia which made its location better than ST Petersburg. Also the population in Moscow was larger, so they decided that it was better to have the capital of Russia to have a large population. Last Moscow was very far from the front lines.

    The Bolsheviks Party changed its name to the Communist party and they decided to change it at the seventh congress of the Russian Communist Party. It was their first congress since the Bolsheviks gained power after the October Revolution. This congress was held in Petrograd and all the delegates helped vote on the decisions. The delegates then decided to change the name to the Communist Party.

As the ruler of Russia he did not allow class for reform and wanted to maintain czarist absolutism. He does not have the strength or power that was needed to be a czar. While he was in power the disastrous outcome of the Russian and Japanese war happened. This then lead to the 1905 Russian Revolution

    Czar Nicholas II and his family are executed by the Bolsheviks. It was late at night and Czar Nicholas II, his wife, five kids, and there four servants were taking a picture in the cellar of the house they were being held. They were told that this picture was to silence the rumors that they had escaped. Suddenly though a group of armed men enter with arm guns and kill everyone in Czar family and also his servant, but the ones they did not kill with the gun were stabbed to death.

    Many groups were forming that opposed Lenin and the rest of the Bolsheviks. They resisted do agree with the decisions the bolsheviks made. They did not like their ideas one bit.The groups of people were the Monarchists, militarist, and foreign nations at times. These groups were known as the Whites, while the bolsheviks were known as the reds. The Bolsheviks were not ready for this and even though the war was just beginning the Bolsheviks were already seen as very weak.

    The Bolsheviks won the Russian civil war. The whites did not have a true leader or a good strategy which hurt them in the long run in the war. They also lost many foreign men when the foreign nations left Russia after World War 1 came to an end. Also the men the Whites did have did not work together as they would fight in many different groups and areas. If they worked all together they may have won this war, but that was their biggest problem they did not all work together.

    Lenin the architect of the Bolshevik Revolution and the first leader of the soviet union died because of a brain hemorrhage. He died at the age of 54. After his death his body was embalmed and placed in a mausoleum near the Moscow Kremlin. Also the Russian city the was called Petrograd was renamed Leningrad in honor of him.
