20,000 workers went on strike in front of Czaris Wintew. Nicholas ordered soldiers to fire on crowd.

Duma

Mar 7, 1906

First duma met (first Russian parliment).

Russian joins. unprepared for this war. Poorly equipped and not industrialized like the other countries were.

Women led city wide strike. Riots started over shortage of bread.

Bolshevik red quards took over government offices and arrested leaders.

Treaty of Best-Litosk

Russia surrendered large amounts of land to Germany and its allies. Anger in Russia errupted.

Civil War Ends

14 million Russians died in 3 years. Starvation followed and many people fled Russia. Red army crushed all opposition.

Reforms under NEP

Allowed peasents to sell supplies and crops instead of giving them to the government. Government owned major businesses and incouraged foreign investment.

Lenin Steps Down

Lenin has a stroke and isn't fit for leading. Joseph Stalin becomes new leader of Russia
