Decembrist
The Decembrists revolt was a uprising of a small group of nobles and army officers who tried to over throw the czar's goverment. The group wanted to set up a constitutional monarchy. The czar was Nicholas 1 and he quick crushed the uprising and executed many of the men and exiled the rest to Siberia. The group became heroes to later generation of revolutionaries. -

Czar Alexander 2 emancipated the serfs in 1861. He did this because of the public's change in opinion and the increase of peasant revolts. He also wanted to reform Russia's social structure. -

In 1903 two groups meet in London. One believe that in the czar. They wanted to stay loyal to him. The group became know as the Melviks. The other group believed that called for a socialist revolution. They became the Bolsheviks. The two groups began to fight a Civil War for six year and the Bolsheviks won. -

Bloody Sunday was the day a group of workers lead by Georgy Apollonovich marched to the Czar's winter palace. Imperail forces demolished the group. Strikes broke out through Russia push Nicholas II to a breaking point. Final Nicholas II created a idea of Dumas, which worked to reform Russia. -

The Russio- Japenese War was a fight between Russia and Japan for the control of Korea and the greater part of Manchuria. The Russians lost and the Japanese became the first power to beat a European Power. -

Russia joins the war
Russia joins WWI in 1914 and states war on Germany. What the Russians don't know is that the war is joining to effect them horribly. Many of the Russian troops don't have guns or ammo. They have to charge the enemy pretedning to be firing then, if they make it to the enemy, stab them with their knives. -

The Russian revolution begins with the March revolution. Where people strike in the capital. With all of the stress Nicholas II abdicates and leaves the power in the Provisional Goverment. This is the start of the Revolution and it is only going to get worse. -

In March riots and strikes break out in Petrograd. Angry crowds protested the war and the shortages of food. They shouted, "Bread and Peace". When revolution began to spread, the goverment sent troops to restore order. Many soldiers refused to fire in the crowds and many also joined the protesters. -

Nicholas II abdicated the throne to restore order he set up a Provisional government. The government introduce reforms such as freedom of speech and of religion. For the first time Russia would rather be based on written rules than under the command of a czar. -

The Provisional government had oredered Vladimir Lenin's arrest. As result thr Bolsheviks stroms the government building arresting and capturing the memeber of the Provisional government. -

Alexander Kerensky became the leader in July of 1917 after Nicholas II abdicated his throne. Kerenksy made two major mistakes in his short rule. One he made sure Russai stayed in the war that was happening in the country itself. Secondly he didn't let the peasants have land which made him a big target for the Bolshiviks. -

The Civil war was between two groups the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. The Bolsheviks believed in a different rule than the czar. The Mensheviks believed in following the czar. -

Late on the night of July 16 the czar and his family was ordered to get dress quickly for a photo. What the family didn't know is that they where being lead into their own deaths. The Bolshevik group had found the family and murdred them. -

After Lenin's death many people tried to gain power. Stalin outmanuvered his rivials and found himself ruling the Soviet Union. Once in rule, he collectivized farming and had potential enemies executed or sent to forced labor camps. Stalin aligned with the United States and Britain in World War II, but afterward engaged in an increasingly tense relationship with the West known as the Cold War
