Russo-Japan War
Russia wanted to take over the warm water port of Manchuria. Russia had wanted to take over Manchuria for several years leading up the the Russo-Japan War. Manchuria is located near China and very close to the islands of Japan. -
Bloody Sunday
This was the beginning of the Russian Revolution. Protesters walked around St. Petersburg and roughly 100 protesters were seen as a threat and were shot to death. -
World War I (Russian Involvement)
Russia used it's first offensive move in WWI by attacking the German Army. Russia went straight into Prussia (where the Germans held troops) and began attacking. -

Russian worker demanded better working conditions and a wage increase. This was one of many key points in the Russian Revolution. -
Czar Nicholas II Abdicates the Russian Throne
In 1917, the army began striking and workers began demanding socialist reforms. This forced czar Nicolas I the abdicate his throne as a Russian leader. -
The Russian Civil War Begins
After czar Nicolas II was ran out of power, there was a battle to see who would take over. This war was the Bolsheviks (Red Army) vs. the Menshveks (White Army). The Red Army supposrted communism and the White Army supported a democracy. -
The USSR Is Formed
When a group of Russians over threw the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union was formed. -
Vladimir Lenin’s Death
The Russian laeder Vladimir Lenin died because of a stroke.
