Attack at Port Arthur
Russia and Japan compeated for control of Korea and Manchuria. They signed multiple agreements that Russia broke. This led to Japan attacking Russia at Port Arthur. News of repeated Russian losses led to a revolt in Russia. -
Bloody Sunday
About 200,000 workers and their families went to the Czar's Winter Palace. They carried a petition asking for better work condidtions and more personal freedom. Nicholas II gave orders to fire at the crowd. The soilders did so and many people were ingured or killed. -
Duma Begins
Nicholas II approved Russia's first parliament (the first Duma) It's leaders wanted Russia to become a constitutional monarcy. The Czar dissolved the Duma after 10 weeks because Nicholas II was hesitant to share his power. -
Russia into World War I
Nicholas II draged Russia into World War I. Russian armies were not prepared to defend against Germany. They were defeated by the Germans and Russia's weakness showed through again. -
Woman Revolt
Woman textile workers led a city wide strike and riots started everywhere. Russian soilders were ordered to fired at them but soon took their side. -
End to Winter Palace Role
Armed factory workers stormed the Winter Palace in Petrograd. They took offices and arrested leaders. The farmland was to be ditributed and factories were to be controled by the workers. -
Rage of The Russians
Russia surrendered a large part of their territory to Germany and it's allies. This created anger throughtout Russia due to humilating terms. They objected the Bolsheviks, their polices, and the plan to murder the president. -
Battle of the Reds and Whites
The White army (oppososite to Czar role) was against the Bolshevik's Red army. The White army wanted a democratic system and the Red army wanted the government to be run through Czar role so White army declared war on the Red army. -
Economies Bettered
After the war ended they had a small scale version of capitalism. Peasents can sell their crops, governtment kept control of major industries, and small factories, businesses, and farms operated by private owenership. -
USSR
The country, Russia, was renamed Union of Soviet Socialist Republic in honor of the councils. Bosheciks renamed their party the Communist pPrty.
