Rasputin is Buried
Rasputin was a peasant who was given power when he was the only person who could cure the Tsar's son's hemophilia. Rasputin had a big influence on the Duma and in the time that the Tsar was fighting in the war, it was rumored he was sleeping with the Tsarina. People were sick of his dangerous influence and on the night of December 17th, 1916 he was invited by several people to the Yussupov palace. He drank poisoned wine which had no effect, so he was shot with a revolver twice before he died. -
International Women's Day
International women's day marked the start of the February revolution. Many women were protesting against the government implementing food rationing and over 50,000 women were striking. By 25th of February over 250,000 workers were on strike and the Tsar ordered guards to shoot at the protesters, however many of the guards joined in with the protest -

The February revolution removed Tsar Nicholas II from power and the provisional government took control. This was due to a number of violent demonstrations while Nicholas II was visiting troops on the WW1 front. The provisional government wasn't very popular as their policies were the same as the Tsar and they supported the rich people. -

Tsar Nicholas II renounces his throne and his brother, Mikhail, refuses to accept it. The provisional government rules. -

The Bolsheviks, led by Lenin, seize the Winter Palace. They take the power from the provisional government. The new government is called the Council of People's Commissars. -

The new government, Council of People's Commissars, makes the decision to withdraw from the war with Germany.
